I have this condition called pityriasis versicolor/alba (white spots) on my left hand. How do I remove it?

Question: I have this condition called pityriasis versicolor/alba (white spots) on my left hand. How do I remove it?Please be specific in the name of the creme or solution. Someone mentioned Selson Blue shampoo but I'm not sure. Can it be the food I eat? Maybe the soap bar I use? Maybe I need to wash my blanket more often?

Answer: Remember a fungus is better prevented once it disappears otherwise no drugs help -Avoid moistureAvoid antibactirals (antibactrials kill normal bacteria on your body this allows fungus to grow more)If you are using too much body sprays stop that - they have antibacterials.Go to emedicine via google search and you can read some good stuff. These are two drugs from emedicine -Drug NameTerbinafine (Lamisil) -- Inhibits squalene epoxidase, which decreases ergosterol synthesis, causing fungal cell death. Use medication until symptoms significantly improve. Duration of treatment should be >1 wk but not >4 wk.Adult Dose Apply bid 1-4 wkPediatric Dose <12 years: Not established>12 years: Apply as in adultsContraindications Documented hypersensitivityInteractions None reportedPregnancy C - Safety for use during pregnancy has not been established.Precautions Discontinue use if sensitivity or irritation occurs; for external use only; avoid contact with eyesDrug NameClotrimazole (Mycelex, Lotrimin-AF) -- Broad-spectrum antifungal agent that inhibits yeast growth by altering cell membrane permeability, causing fungal cell death. Reevaluate diagnosis if no clinical improvement after 4 wk.Adult Dose Gently massage into affected area and surrounding skin areas bid for 2-6 wkPediatric Dose Children: Not establishedAdolescents: Apply as in adultsContraindications Documented hypersensitivityInteractions None reportedPregnancy B - Usually safe but benefits must outweigh the risks.Precautions For external use only; avoid contact with eyes; if irritation or sensitivity develops, discontinue use
