Facial Eczema treatments?

Question: I tend to break out in red or dry patches on my face caused by my eczema. I've already been to the doctor numerous times and been fobbed of with aqueous cream (which helps) and hydrocortisone cream (which lightened my skin). Are there any vitamin supplements that I can take to help with my eczema?I'm also wondering if it is worth me going to have as food sensitivity test? Where would I go for one? What other things can I do as to not suffer so much?

Answer: There are no useful supplements and evening primrose, which was advocated by some doctors some years ago, has been largely discredited.Food allergy is virtually guaranteed to be a blind alley. I have a few standard suggestions. Here is a list of do's and don'ts that I hope you will find helpful.Things not to do:-Don't use biological powdersDon't use fabric softenersDon't use soap or detergents to wash withDon't use standard shower gels or bath additivesThings to do :-Try Fairy Snow -the old fashioned powderUse dryer ballsUse a soap free cleanser to wash hands etc.Use a moisturising shower gel like OilatumUse a moisture bath additive like AveenoUse a good moisturiser like AveenoUse it very frequently, you can't over-moisturise!Use antihistamines for itch, a non sedative one like loratidine in the morning and a sedative one such piriton at night. You may need to use steroids creams/ointments for flare up areas. Use the mildest you can, and for the face never more than 1% hydrocortisone, for the shortest time possible.
