Question: A friend of mine has it really bad on his legs and torso. Not bad on his arms & back, but none on his face, neck or chest. He uses hydrocortizone cream, but I didn't know if there were any other treatments found to work more effectively. He also has four fingernails on his left hand that are thick, obviously from a fungal problem, but the prescription meds haven't affected that either.
Answer: hydrocortizone cream works well in mild/severe cases. My daughter suffers it and contact dermatitis. I have found that using non scented products help, making sure that you dry the affected areas thoroughly when wet and applying a non scented moisturising cream/lotion to the affected areas regularly (2 to 3 times or more daily when extreme) help. In extreme cases it might be worth having allergy testing done. A silicone based moisturiser helps and avoid using soaps and detergents where possible. Liquid non scented soaps are best for washing with.
