 | Pityriasis vs. Psoriasis? |

Question: I've had a dermatologist with a great reputation diagnose my skin condition which started with a small, reddish scaly patch and then grew to spots all over my back as pityriasis rosea. Another doc looked at it (when it was just the scaly patch early on) and diagnosed psoriasis. I was relieved when I got the pityriasis rosea diagnosis from the derm because I was also told that the stuff would go away of its own accord. But I'm getting worried. It's been almost 3 months since the onset of the "herald" patch and the stuff seems to be slowly spreading (a few new spots on my chest within the last week). Could what I have in fact be psoriasis? If the stuff is really pityriasis when will it start to go away? The prescription steroid cream the derm gave me doesn't help at all.
Answer: Pityriasis rosea or Psoriasis are both very hard to diagnose in very early stages. Another thing that you could have is Dermatitis Herpetiformis (coeliac/celiac disease), If you have any these it is showing that your autoimmune system is malfunctioning. No miracle creams or drugs are going to solve your problem, as they only treat the symptoms not the cause.None of these are viral nor contagious they are caused by what you have in your diet another words what you are feeding yourself. In Psoriasis Is Avoidable http://groups.msn.com/psoriasisis.You will find a new diet that avoids all the foods that can cause your condition. By following and adhere to new diet you can find out for yourself what foods are affecting you.Once your condition has cleared you can add back foods and have a safe diet that suits your metabolism best.
