Question: to start, I sometimes have these little little bumps on my scalp that sometimes itch and sometimes scab. I seems to me they are only the way they are because I pick them. But lately they seem to itch more. I am beginning to think I have head lice or something but the few times I have checked myself out I only see flakes- probably because I have been scratching- not eggs or lice themselves. I also feel the need to itch my body too. I am not dirty and shower often so...? What's going on? I am not around kids too much either, occasionally though. How do I know? Will I see lice etc. if I am checking myself thoroughly? And advice or explanations?
Answer: Sounds like you have the same problem I had. My scalp would get itchy and pimply and flaky and I'd scratch and get scabs, so I'd wash my hair thinking I was dirty. The next day my body and scalp would be itchy, then the day after that I'd get pimples on my scalp.Turns out that I had contact dermatitis from the detergent in my shampoo and bodywash. Every time I washed I was just making it carry on.Now I avoid shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soap that contains sodium lauryl (or laureth) sulfate (SLS) and I don't have that problem anymore.
